BAIKONUR COSMODROME, Kazakhstan, May 18, 2012



The International Launch Services Proton/Breeze M launched from Baikonur's Pad 24 at 1:12 a.m. today local time (19:12 GMT, 3:12 p.m. EDT, on May 17) successfully delivered the Nimiq 6 satellite for Canadian Satcom operator Telesat. Weighing approximately 4.5 metric tons, the satellite was released into the planned geostationary transfer orbit after a 9 hour 14 minute mission. It was the 5th successful proton launch in the past 93 days.
