Sea Launch successfully launched the EchoStar XI broadcast satellite from its ocean-based platform on the Equator on July 15, marking its fourth successful mission of 2008 and its third mission for DISH Network.
EchoStar XI is a direct broadcast satellite (DBS) designed to complement the existing DISH Network fleet. The spacecraft’s Ku-band payload will provide uninterrupted service and additional capacity and capabilities to DISH customers. The 1300 bus – an industry leader in power, performance and reliability - is a space-proven platform for a wide range of satellite services, providing total satellite power capability of 20kW throughout the orbital life of the satellite. EchoStar XI is the third spacecraft Sea Launch will orbit for the DISH Network.
