What is an NGSO satellite?
NGSO means non-geostationary orbit. Unlike GEO satellites, which sit above one spot at 35,786 km, NGSO satellites orbit closer to Earth and cross the sky. Low Earth orbit (LEO) constellations such as Starlink and OneWeb fly at 500 to 1,200 km and need hundreds or thousands of satellites for continuous coverage. Medium Earth orbit (MEO) systems such as O3b and the navigation constellations fly at 8,000 to 20,000 km. Highly elliptical orbits (HEO) serve the polar regions GEO cannot reach.
What the Satbeams tracker shows
Live satellite positions propagated from current orbital elements, orbit tracks, per-satellite coverage footprints with a minimum elevation you choose, day and night shading, and look angles from any point you click. GEO arc exclusion zones show where an NGSO terminal must not point along the geostationary belt. Everything is shareable: the URL always restores the exact view.
